Our Top 5 Favorite Drugstore Makeup Products: Under $15

August 1, 2024

I have always loved makeup. The glamour, artistry, and freedom of expression. The provocative power of transformation it offers. I can even remember the first lipstick I bought. It was a Wet and Wild, iridescent purple shade, and I loved it. I remember wondering how long it would take me to save up enough allowance to buy all the colors, and so my makeup obsession began. I’ve tried a lot of products and techniques over the years, but one of the most important lessons I learned is there are great products to be found in the drugstore, and there are plenty of high-end products that are total garbage. Of course, makeup is highly subjective and we all have our favorites. These are a few of mine. I give you my top 5 favorite, and most repurchased, drugstore makeup products. Let’s dive in!

Lip Oil (Gloss)

e.l.f. Glow Reviver Lip Oil: This gorgeous tinted lip oil is deliciously silky-smooth and hydrating. This is the closest drug store lip product I’ve found that’s similar to the Dior Lip Glow Oil. So many of us are obsessed with the Dior, but the price point comes in about $32 dollars more. I also appreciate that e.l.f’s gloss doesn’t get all drippy and sticky around the top, like my Dior lip oils do. Both products have a nice doe-foot style applicator and feel wonderfully nourishing, leaving lips shiny and juicy. So if you’re looking for a quality, affordable, luxurious-feeling gloss, this is definitely one to try.

Mascara

L’Oréal Voluminous Carbon Black: This mascara was recommended by a few makeup artists I used to follow on YouTube back in the day, and has been one of my holy-grail drugstore products ever since. A lot has changed in the world of makeup over the years. Products and people have been cancelled, but this og mascara is going long and strong. It’s volumizing, lengthening, non-clumping, and everything a mascara should be.

Liquid Eyeliner

Maybelline Line Stiletto: This sultry liquid eye liner is by far my most repurchased makeup item. I’ve been buying and wearing this product for at least a decade now, and could fill a swimming pool with all my empties. I love everything about it—the felt-tip applicator, the formula, and how it creates a sharp, beautiful, wing. If you’re into rocking a sexy cat-eye look, then this eyeliner is for you.

Brow Pencil

Maybelline Xpress Brow: Ah, the brows…such an important facial feature. If done well they tie everything together, if done badly they can make someone look like they drew them on with a Sharpe. Not all of us were blessed with full, fluffy, Lilly Colins brows, or perhaps you lived through the late 90’s overpluckagedon. Either way, having a good brow product is so important. This pencil is easy to control, and is designed to create tiny, precise, strokes. This is a great go-to drugstore choice if you’re in a pinch, or don’t want to shell out $25 for an Anastasia of Beverly Hills Brow Wiz pencil.

Foundation

L’Oréal Infallible Fresh Wear Foundation: This is a lightweight, buildable, medium-full coverage foundation. I love how this foundation looks and feels on the skin. I have combination/oily skin, and for me it lasts well throughout the day without getting shiny and sliding off. I’ve always been on the hunt for a perfect foundation—a product that gives great coverage without feeling gross, looking cakey, or clogging pores, and this is it! No wonder it’s almost always out of my shade when I go to the store. Luckily, there’s always Amazon.
